Braille Tattoo

One the many new invovations in body modification is Braille tattooing. The tattoo was thought up by Klara Jirkova from the University of Art in Berlin, and is made by placing implants under your skin such as small beads or an embossed plate in whatever text you want it to say. This great inovation means even more people can now enjoy tattoos.

Kris Van Assche S/S 2009

Joining in on the tattoos on the catwalk craze is Kris Van Assche, with his S/S 2009 collection. His models paraded down the catwalk featuring sailor inspired tattoos across their arms, necks and chests.

Karl Lagerfeld Spring 2009

For his Spring 2009 RTW collection, Karl Lagerfeld used "metal tattoo" bracelets and necklaces as accessories. The bracelets and necklaces feature intricate designs with a winged creature winding round the models arms and necks. The winged tattoos also appeared in the hair of models. I thought the softer, intricate tattoos worked really well with the strong clothing designs.

Tattooed Dishes

These dishes are by tattoo artist Paul Timman and their design has been inspired by the traditional Japanese tattooing style Irezumi. The talented Mr.Timman is a tattooist by trade and has even worked on Angelina Jolie, before turning his hand to creating this beautiful dishware.

Glow in the dark?

These tattoos are a little different to your average. They are black light-reactive tattoos only appear once under a UV light,so you can cover yourself in tattoos and no-one would ever know, perfect for the more shy and retiring types...

Diamond Tattoo by Shimansky

South African model and 'Shimansky' brand ambassador Minki van der Westhuizen wore South African luxury jeweller Shimansky’s most expensive tattoo, valued at $924,000. This unique creation isn't actually a tattoo but involved 612 Shimansky Ideal Cut.5 carat diamonds. They were attatched to Minki's skin using a water-based adhesive, this 'diamond tattoo' is only temporary which is unfortunate as it took a brutal eight hours!

Dior Eyes - Pain free eye tattooing ?

These contacts were launched by John Galliano in 2004 but this is the first time I have came across them through another blog.  The contacts feature a circle of glitter, gold or balck to outline the iris and also showcase the famous CD logo on the contact which makes them rather special. 'Dior Eyes' are currently on sales in stores throughout Europe & retail at between $100 to $145. They come in either standard or luxury cases and can be worn for two months at a time. This is the new style of luxury branding.

Louis Vuitton Menswear Spring 2011

Louis Vuitton is the latest fashion brand to jump on the bandwagon of temporary tattoos being featured on their catwalks. In the latest Menswear collection LV had Marc Jacobs tattooist Scott Campbell spray the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram on to the male models necks to imitate "tattooed-on scarves". After seeing the sucess of Chanel's temporary tattoos it is clear LV is hoping that it will appeal to their most loyal fans and be a sucess in the way Chanel's were.

One of the many customized bags by Scott Campbell, below.

The design artist Scott Cambell is applying to a male model during the show replicates the design on the above bag.

Eye Tattooing

This procedure was carried out in an attempt to turn a tattoo fan's eye blue.....and it apparently took 40 insertions of the needle to colour the eye blue! It's certainly not something many people would try, mainly out of fear, but with it being such a new procedure who knows what the after effects will be.

Ed Hardy

Ed Hardy is a clothing line based on the art of famous tattooist Don Ed Hardy. The brands sells a wide range of items including t-shirts, bags, purses, footwear, perfume and make-up and even dummies for babies! And while i'm not really a fan of the brand, i think it's a great example of fashion and tattoos merging.

Hair Accessories

I found these old school tattoo inspired hair accessories while randomly searching through Google images. I think that they all look great but personally i prefer the first set, the sailor skull clips are amazing.

Tan the Man

I know it's not a tattoo but it's not a form of body decoration for the faint-hearted either! Artist Janine Rewell done this by using customised vinyl stickers which she placed on her model before using a sunbed to sunburn the uncovered skin, which created very distinct images across his body.

Fun in the Rain

It's a shame i didn't have these wellington boots when i was a kid, they would have looked so much better than the Postman Pat ones!!!

Christopher Kane

These beautiful dresses and the cashmere cardigan are from Christopher Kane's Spring 2011 collection. The designs combine tattoo illustrations and bright, neon colours giving a pretty punk feeling to the collection.

Paper Tattoos

By using a tattoo gun instead of a pen on heavyweight paper, Danish artist Jacob Dahlstrup Jensen, creates 3D and embossed drawings of tattoos. The photos above show a skull image named "On a Sailors Graves (no roses grow)" and a pair of skeletal mermaids. These paper tattoos would make amazing invites or cards.

Qasimi A/W 2011

This is the Qasimi Autumn/Winter collection 2011 that recently showed in Paris. For the show the male models wore tattoo-like tribal art on their torsos and heads. Overall the tattoos combined with the clothes gave the collection a very futuristic tribal feel.
